The chosen candidate will undergo training to take charge of the process, maintain precise processing and part traceability records, and collaborate with the quality team and our New York division to meet quality and delivery requirements. This role involves quality responsibilities alongside hands-on manufacturing support, including operator training and occasional welding operation. When the welding department workload allows, the individual will assist with other quality engineering activities under the supervision of the Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete training in the flash welding process and take on the responsibility of day-to-day process leadership and support.
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and well-organized processing records, part identification, inspection results, and other necessary documentation for traceability.
- Collaborate closely with the quality team and New York division to relay part status, address quality or processing issues, and uphold delivery requirements.
- Support the welding operator by providing process guidance, troubleshooting, and training as required; assist in maintaining clear work instructions and training records.
- Conduct the flash welding process, following training and authorization, for process development, continuous improvement, or emergency backup coverage.
- Monitor process outcomes, recognize concerns or discrepancies, and collaborate with the appropriate teams to implement and document corrective measures.
- Aid in enhancing process consistency, documentation, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Undertake other quality engineering or technician duties when the welding department workload permits, including inspection support, nonconformance review, root cause analysis, and quality documentation.
- Adhere to established safety protocols, quality requirements, and approved process controls.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience in manufacturing quality engineering, quality technology, inspection, or a related technical role.
- Strong recordkeeping abilities and keen attention to detail, with the capability to maintain dependable process documentation and part traceability.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions, as well as using appropriate inspection and measuring equipment.
- Impressive problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills; adept at coordinating priorities across departments and locations.
- Willingness and mechanical proficiency to learn the flash welding process, support operator training, and carry out hands-on welding tasks as necessary.
- Ability to work autonomously within established procedures and contribute to a collaborative quality and manufacturing team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical training or education in quality, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. Experience with welding or joining processes, process development, corrective actions, and continuous improvement is a bonus.
- Prior experience with flash welding is advantageous; training in the specific process will be provided.
