Project Manager Job Description

Project Manager Position in Berlin, CT

We are in search of a proficient and meticulously organized Construction Superintendent to manage day-to-day on-site construction operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Superintendent will supervise subcontractors, coordinate site activities, enforce safety standards, and act as the primary on-site leader from project initiation to conclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Operations

  • Oversee all daily on-site construction activities
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, labor, and materials
  • Ensure work is done according to plans, specifications, and local building codes
  • Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and productivity

Schedule & Quality Control

  • Develop and manage the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager
  • Monitor progress and address delays or issues proactively
  • Conduct daily and weekly site inspections to ensure quality standards are met
  • Verify completed work before inspections and turnover

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company, OSHA, and site-specific safety regulations
  • Hold safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Identify and rectify unsafe conditions promptly
  • Maintain site safety documentation and incident reports

Communication & Leadership

  • Act as the primary on-site point of contact
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients
  • Lead by example and foster a positive, professional job-site culture
  • Resolve conflicts and field issues efficiently

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily logs, progress reports, and manpower tracking
  • Review drawings, RFIs, and change orders
  • Assist with inspections, punch lists, and project closeout documentation

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proven experience managing subcontractors and job-site personnel
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred

  • Experience with [commercial / residential / multifamily / industrial] construction
  • Familiarity with scheduling software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, or similar)
  • CPR/First Aid certification
