Field Service Technician

Location: Hartford, Connecticut

Salary: $65-75K plus bonus

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician who can work independently, communicate effectively with customers, generate technical reports, and provide recommendations for product improvement to the Product Development Group. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Field Service role with decision-making responsibility
  • Electronics or Electrical certificate or degree
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time (both domestic and international)
  • Proficient in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLC systems
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean driving record
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity
  • Preferred experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one for international travel

Responsibilities:

  • Regularly interact with customers, vendors, and contractors
  • Coordinate participation of vested parties for equipment installation and start-up activities
  • Ensure timely response to customer inquiries
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment onsite and remotely
  • Perform warranty and non-warranty repairs of equipment at customer facilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations
  • Ensure proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities
  • Travel to customer sites for final commissioning and equipment demonstrations
  • Support project team in clearing mechanical, electrical, and automation punch list items
  • Participate in project and construction meetings
  • Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel
  • Troubleshoot technical issues onsite and provide support to customers
  • Coordinate site visits and travel arrangements independently
  • Provide direct technical support for testing and field service activities
