Manufacturing Engineer – fabrication
GENERAL SUMMARY:
An established company with a significant market share in their manufacturing sector and a positive working environment is offering an opportunity for a Fabrication Engineer at a manufacturing plant located in Fairburn, GA, in the southwest area of the Atlanta metropolitan region. The company has recently invested in new capital equipment. The selected candidate will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The role involves planning and designing manufacturing processes within an industrial plant to enhance efficiency by analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization to meet manufacturing goals and product specifications.
The position offers major company benefits, bonus potential, and a 401k with a 100% match up to 5%. The normal work hours are 8-5, but may require up to 45-50 hours per week.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design production tooling using 2D & 3D software like SolidWorks.
- Implement productivity improvements on current production lines.
- Conduct root cause analysis of failures using statistical methods and recommend necessary changes.
- Design and implement production processes for new products and existing product changes.
- Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on new and existing products.
- Review product designs for manufacturability and optimized processing.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity methods.
- Utilize design of experiments, lean manufacturing, and more.
- Create work instructions, statements of work, spare parts inventories, and more.
- Implement automation, robotic systems, vision systems, controls integration, and more.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience required. Ability to effectively use 3D modeling software (especially Solid Works) and Microsoft Office. Tooling experience, project management, automation experience, and heavy manufacturing industry experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach with hands/arms, and lift up to 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Noise levels in the office setting are usually moderate, while time spent in manufacturing environments may require hearing protection. Specific areas where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is needed will be identified.
