Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Waterloo, Iowa

Salary: $65-75K plus 10% bonus

Job Summary of the Design Engineer:

The Design Engineer will work alongside a team of engineers to create mechanical products and systems that meet the customer's needs and expectations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:

• Plan and execute engineering projects based on customer requirements, market demand, and competitor analysis.
• Evaluate mechanical systems using research programs and principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and materials.
• Develop mechanical products by researching manufacturing methods and materials.
• Develop manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Ensure system and product quality through testing methods and quality control.
• Prepare product reports and provide engineering information as needed.
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with regulations.
• Maintain system and product database by entering data and using computer programs.
• Stay up-to-date on professional knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.
• Contribute to team efforts to accomplish related results.

Education & Experience Requirements of the Design Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 1-5 years of entry-level experience.
• Experience in heavy haul trailer engineering or heavy equipment engineering a plus.
• Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Excel and Design software systems.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and technical skills.
• Understanding of cost accounting and lean enterprise principles.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems.
