Sanitation Manager – 3rd Shift

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Sanitation Manager will lead third‑shift sanitation operations at their Indianapolis, Indiana manufacturing facility. The third shift runs from 11:00 pm – 7:00 am Monday through Friday, with potential weekend work as needed. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and a safe work environment by providing hands‑on leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, and continuous improvement of sanitation programs.

A Taste of Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the third‑shift sanitation and production supervisory team.
  • Implement and manage sanitation programs to meet federal, state, and company food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the plant Master Sanitation Schedule activities.
  • Conduct inspections to identify and resolve sanitation gaps.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to address challenges and improve processes.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance sanitation effectiveness.
  • Manage vendor relationships for sanitation chemicals, pest control services, and uniform programs.
  • Monitor sanitation expenses and support budget development.
  • Support the development of standard operating procedures and provide training on safety, food safety, and sanitation best practices.
  • Lead safety coaching and reinforce Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Track sanitation performance metrics and implement action plans.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Ingredients Required for Success

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing or food production environment with a sanitation focus.
  • Supervisory experience and knowledge of sanitation programs, food safety regulations, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing budgets and vendor contracts preferred.
  • CIP, SAP, and Food lock experience a plus.
