Quality Assurance Manager - Baie-d'Urfe, QC

Summary:

As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will report directly to the Regional Manager of Quality and Food Safety Canada. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Operations, Sales, Logistics, and Engineering/Maintenance departments to provide leadership in maintaining our facility's Food Safety and Quality programs. Your main objective will be to ensure that our products consistently meet or surpass the quality standards and food safety requirements of the company and our customers.

Additionally, you will be responsible for leading and developing our QA and Sanitation departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design, implement, maintain, and monitor HACCP/Preventive Control Plans and Food Safety and Quality programs.
  2. Lead all audits, including GFSI Certification and customer audits.
  3. Lead efforts in Foreign Material Prevention.
  4. Collaborate closely with various departments (Operations, Logistics, Production, Engineering/Maintenance) to ensure the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality programs.
  5. Lead the Internal Audit Program, ensuring it is carried out as per the established Internal Audit Program. Present findings during daily and weekly meetings and follow up on CAPAs for closure.
  6. Maintain and improve quality systems by continuously enhancing HACCP/Preventive Control Plans and Food Safety and Quality programs according to the BRC Standard.
  7. Provide immediate feedback to the management team regarding food safety and quality issues.
  8. Serve as the main contact for regulatory agencies and third-party auditors.
  9. Motivate and recognize employees to foster a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility.
  10. Lead efforts in addressing customer/consumer complaints and communicate progress daily and weekly to the management team.
  11. Act as a liaison for all customer communication and requests.
  12. Keep the Regional Manager QA and Food Safety Canada informed of any problems, issues, or concerns.
  13. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications/Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in food science, chemistry, or related fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a QA Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and GFSI principles and programs. BRC and HACCP certification is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Statistical software.
  • Good working knowledge of Statistical Process Control in an industrial environment.
  • A fast learner with the ability to multitask, self-motivated, excellent organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail and accuracy of information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
  • A positive attitude and professional approach. Ability to interact positively with all plant employees and promote productive relationships based on credibility and trust.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a highly organized fashion with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A good understanding of production, both in plant and office procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills with a strong track record in developing teams.
