Director of Logistics

Position Summary

The Director of Logistics is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all transportation and shipping operations to ensure cost efficiency, service reliability, and operational excellence. Working closely with various departments and third-party logistics providers, this role drives strategic initiatives and improves logistics systems.

Education & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field required.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in logistics or supply chain management.
• Global Trade: Experience with international shipping and import processes preferred.
• Track Record: Demonstrated history of enhancing logistics cost efficiency and operational performance.

Core Competencies

• Advanced analytical skills with expertise in Excel; Knowledge of Power BI a plus.
• Experience with mid-to-large ERP systems.
• Expertise in logistics optimization, network planning, and cost control.
• Data-driven decision-making capabilities with strong business acumen.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficient in project management and process improvement.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Job Duties

• Collaborate with internal logistics leadership, 3PL providers, and carriers to secure optimal shipping rates.
• Assess shipments for accuracy, rating, billing, and other key factors.
• Identify and review shipments that do not meet set criteria with senior leadership.
• Identify opportunities to enhance shipping efficiency and reduce costs.
• Create performance reports for executive and divisional leadership.
• Suggest and implement process improvements based on data-driven analyses.

Work Environment

• Location: On-site role near Florence, AL.
• Hours: Standard business hours (Monday–Friday) with additional time as needed.
• Physical Requirements: Office-based position with occasional light physical tasks (up to 20 lbs.).
• Presence: Office attendance required for core responsibilities.
