Major and well-known international company offers an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Unit Manager at their large manufacturing and distribution site located in the southern suburbs of the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area. Position Summary:

  • Lead and oversee the Continuous Improvement Department, driving plant-wide performance improvement initiatives in areas such as cost, quality, productivity, material flow, and value stream optimization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through targeted training and campus-wide implementation of Kaizen, Small Group, and Kaizen Blitz programs.
  • Develop Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Green Belts/Black Belts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the CI staff, including CI Engineers, CI Technicians, CI Fabricator, and quarterly CI Interns.
  • Implement company Production System principles, such as 5S/6F, Lean Manufacturing, Synchronous Flow, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Analyze business processes and value stream mapping to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Execute strategic and shop floor initiatives in areas like Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, labor efficiency, Value Add Analysis (VAA), material flow, quality, and business value stream.
  • Conduct IE time studies to optimize labor line balance and productivity.
  • Perform process capability studies and implement control systems for critical processes.
  • Manage and enhance campus-wide programs for Kaizen, Small Group, and Kaizen Blitz.
  • Champion 5-Why Root Cause Analysis and facilitate permanent corrective actions in all aspects of the business operation.
  • Develop and implement structured training programs in areas such as Kaizen, Small Group, Lean Manufacturing 5S/6F, Theoretical Value Production/Value Add Analysis, PFMEA, 5-Star, Excel, PowerPoint, and more.
  • Develop Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green and Black Belts.
  • Champion PFMEA preventative action, including poke-yoke (error proofing).
  • Maintain master project lists.
  • Compile summary progress reports for management review.
  • Share responsibility for plant ISO compliance, including internal auditing.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in an applicable industrial business field (IE degree strongly preferred).
  • Minimum five years of relevant industrial manufacturing experience (ten years preferred) (Automotive or Tier 1 Automotive Supplier experience strongly preferred).
  • Minimum five years of IE, CI, Lean Manufacturing experience (Automotive or Tier 1 Automotive Supplier experience strongly preferred).
  • Must have at least 3 years of management experience in continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Formal problem-solving training.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peer functions to drive business results.
  • High proficiency in MS-Office PC skills (preferably Visio, Access, AutoCAD).
