Field Service Technician
On-Site Maintenance Specialist
Location: New Haven, CT
We are currently seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our manufacturing client's team. This is a direct-hire position that is perfect for individuals who excel at resolving issues with complex equipment, interacting with customers directly, and traveling to customer sites.
The ideal candidate will possess 2-5 years of experience in field service or equipment maintenance. They should also have strong skills in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic systems, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair advanced electromechanical manufacturing machinery at customer locations
- Interpret complex electrical schematics involving high-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Use electrical diagrams and multimeters to diagnose and solve electrical issues
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, including power supplies, sensors, and human-machine interfaces
- Identify and fix problems with servo drives, motors, and motion-control systems
- Understand pneumatic schematics and machinery operations
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble intricate electromechanical structures using various tools
- Learn and apply CNC lathe controls and programming fundamentals
- Assist with bar-feeding systems and CNC lathe part-processing applications
- Communicate professionally with customers and key contacts
- Provide installation guidance and operator training
- Document service calls, repairs, and technical information accurately
- Ensure a professional representation of the company at all customer engagements
- Travel overnight for approximately 50%-75% of the time
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, or equipment installation
- Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Proficiency in high- and low-voltage electrical systems
- Skilled in using a multimeter
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and motion-control systems
- Ability to interpret pneumatic schematics
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain digital records
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal abilities
- Willingness to travel overnight for 50%-75% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CNC machinery, bar-feeding equipment, or automated manufacturing systems
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or similar CNC controls
- Prior experience in equipment installation and customer training within a manufacturing setting
