Triage RN

Compensation: $25.08 to $40.00 per Hour

Job Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | On-Site | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are collaborating with a committed non-profit community health organization to hire a full-time Triage Nurse who is a Registered Nurse (RN). This role operates in a stable clinic setting during daytime hours, with no weekend shifts. The position is crucial in providing accessible primary health care services. It offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to use their critical thinking, symptom evaluation, and patient communication skills in an organized office environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct professional assessment of patient health concerns primarily over the telephone (about 90% phone interaction) using clinical knowledge and established protocols.
• Determine the severity of patient symptoms across all age groups, directing callers to appropriate emergency services or recommending medical follow-up based on triage protocols.
• Coordinate medication refills, patient referrals, and provide in-person triage assistance when needed.
• Provide clinical guidance to medical assistants and participate in the development of clinical protocols related to triage.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and document all assessments and recommendations in the electronic record.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school
• Current, unrestricted RN licensure in Kansas
• Current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days of employment
• Prior nursing experience required, with preference for public health, primary care, or critical care experience
• Ability to handle distressing calls and interact with individuals with high sensitivity
• Strong technical and computer skills
