Job Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | On-Site | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are working with a committed non-profit community health organization to hire a full-time Triage Nurse (open to both Registered Nurse / RN or Licensed Practical Nurse / LPN). This position is based in a stable daytime clinic setting with no weekend shifts, and it plays a crucial role in providing accessible primary health care services. The main focus of this role is conducting high-level clinical phone assessments, making it a great opportunity for an experienced nurse to use their strong critical thinking, symptom evaluation, and patient communication skills in a structured office setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Professional assessment of patient health concerns primarily over the telephone (about 90% phone interaction), using clinical knowledge and established protocols without visual inspection
  • Determining the severity of patient symptoms across all age groups and directing callers to appropriate emergency services or recommending standard medical follow-up based on triage protocols
  • Coordinating medication refills, assisting with patient referrals, and providing in-person triage support in the clinic lobby when needed
  • Supporting clinic medical assistants with clinical guidance and task coordination during busy periods
  • Assisting in the development, review, and documentation of formal clinical protocols related to triage
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and meticulous documentation of assessments, recommendations, and interactions

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school
  • Current, unrestricted State of Kansas licensure as an RN or LPN
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
  • Previous nursing experience required, with experience in public health, outpatient primary care, or critical care environments preferred
  • Ability to handle stressful patient calls with sensitivity
  • Strong technical and computer skills

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly pay scale based on licensure track, nursing experience, and years of service
  • Monday through Friday schedule with no evenings, overnights, or weekends required
  • Generous paid time off program
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement planning and disability insurance
  • Flexible cafeteria plan options for additional benefits

Note on Compensation: The salary range listed covers both LPN and RN rates, with the final pay rate determined by licensure, nursing experience, and the organization's non-profit structure.
