Sr. Process Engineer

Location: Topeka, KS plant

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site (M-F, 6:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.)

In this position, you will:

  • Improve safety, quality, and productivity in the Department area by eliminating defects, implementing loss saving initiatives, and developing the operating teams.
  • Lead the Commissioning, Qualification and Verification (CQV) process for new projects, serving as the main point of contact and organizational leader between the engineering and operations team to ensure a smooth transition during turnover.
  • Foster a high-performance work culture by engaging with team members, coaching problem-solving skills, decision-making, and self-reliance.
  • Gain expert-level understanding of the manufacturing process, mechanics, instrumentation, and product specifications within your designated line/area, providing technical support to the line/area teams.
  • Guide operating teams and leadership in identifying and eliminating root causes of losses.
  • Implement and coach company Continuous Improvement methodologies to improve line/area performance, promoting a zero-loss culture.
  • Take ownership of a safety and/or quality key element.
  • Participate in training and qualification programs for the designated line/area, ensuring effective training and maintaining consistent qualification standards.
  • Ensure data reliability for the designated line/area in our Proficy plant applications software, exploring methods to improve data accuracy.
  • Organize and prioritize initiatives to help achieve department master plan and long-term plant vision.
  • Keep the organization up to date with applicable new technologies and ingredients.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing/engineering experience
  • Proven ability to learn technical processes and systems
  • Demonstrated use of formal problem-solving methodologies

Additional skills and experience that would contribute to success in this role:

  • A Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree
  • Experience in food manufacturing
  • Project management skills and technical problem-solving capability
