About the Role

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Silicones team in Charleston, TN. In this role, you will be involved in a variety of electrical and automation engineering tasks aimed at improving the performance of chemical production units and related auxiliary systems in our fumed silica department (HDK). You will collaborate with fellow Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) Engineering professionals to ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance, maximize production unit efficiency, and support instrumentation and automation maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and collaboration with Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Engineering counterparts to ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance
  • Optimize production unit availability and capacity
  • Maintain instrumentation and automation systems for production units
  • Consult and support capital projects led by project engineering
  • Assist in process and technology transfer between WACKER HDK production sites
  • Support capital investment projects and expense type projects
  • Conduct or coordinate debottlenecking and troubleshooting activities
  • Develop expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation engineering within assigned areas of responsibility
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and cost
  • Assist in the development of specifications, standards, and codes
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams, Operations, and other service units to achieve optimal results and solutions


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Computer Science Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Thorough technical knowledge in electrical or instrumentation engineering
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction practices
  • Objective judgement and fact-based decision-making approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
  • Strong multitasking competency
  • Ability to perform under schedule and cost pressure
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements
  • Preferred, but not required: knowledge of Siemens Drives/PLC, Delta V and E&H Instrumentation and automation
  • Physically fit to wear an air purifying respirator if necessary
