Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform various electrical and automation engineering tasks to maintain and continuously improve the performance of multiple chemical production units and related auxiliary systems in our fumed silica department (HDK).
  • Provide engineering and technical services to Operations and additional service units to ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximize the availability and efficiency of these units.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) Engineering counterparts to ensure safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance of production units.
  • Maximize the availability of production units at required capacity and quality.
  • Support and maintain instrumentation and automation for the production units.
  • Consult and support capital projects executed by project engineering.
  • Assist in process and technology transfer between production sites.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on capital investment and expense type projects within the area of responsibility.
  • Conduct or coordinate debottlenecking and troubleshooting activities.
  • Acquire expertise in exercising Electrical & Instrumentation engineering judgment within the assigned process areas and subject matters.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost.
  • Support the development of specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Develop and support preventative maintenance plans such as ITPMs.
  • Collaborate with various groups and individuals within the Engineering and Maintenance teams, Operations, and other service units to achieve optimal results and solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Computer Science Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of electrical or instrumentation engineering, including relevant regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and construction practices.
  • Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams.
  • Strong multitasking competency.
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Preferred, but not required: knowledge of Siemens Drives/PLC, Delta V and E&H Instrumentation and automation.
  • Must be physically fit to wear an air purifying respirator if necessary.
