Must be fluent in large company ERP systems, custom report building, Advanced Excel. Fund administrator coordination preferred. Must be local and on-site 5 days/week. Best fit: hands-on property accountant who can also support corporate GL, consolidations, and investor/fund reporting. NOTE: Will consider people straight out of Big 4 CPA firms.
Job Description – Senior Property Accountant
A real estate investment firm is seeking a Senior Property Accountant for its Torrance office. This is a full-time, on-site role supporting property-level and corporate accounting plus fund administration coordination. You will own full-cycle accounting for 6 multifamily properties and 2 commercial assets, including CAM reconciliations and large real estate ERP system reporting, while also supporting entity-level reporting and working directly with outside fund administrators.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Property Accounting
- Perform full-cycle accounting for 6 multifamily properties and 2 commercial assets, including monthly close, financial packages, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review CAM reconciliations, straight-line rent, and security deposit accounting
- Manage bank reconciliations, cash management, accounts payable, tenant billing, and lease administration
Corporate Accounting
- Support corporate-level general ledger accounting, including intercompany transactions and consolidations
- Assist with corporate financial statements and management reporting
- Support entity-level budgeting and forecasting
Fund Administration & External Reporting
- Serve as a key point of contact with outside fund administrators for data exchange, reconciliations, and reporting
- Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for fund-level financial statements, investor reporting, and audits
- Assist with lender reporting packages and covenant compliance documentation
Systems & Process
- Maintain investor/portfolio data in the large real estate ERP system (IM) portal
- Build and maintain custom reports in Yardi Voyager (not just existing templates) for management, investor, and lender reporting
- Manage vendor compliance workflows in large real estate ERP system, including exceptions and documentation standards
- Identify opportunities to streamline close and reporting workflows across the portfolio
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with a focus on property or real estate accounting; corporate/entity-level exposure a plus
- Hands-on large real estate ERP system, custom report building, IM portal
- CAM reconciliation experience required
- Experience working with outside fund administrators strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA a plus
- Must be local and able to work on-site 5 days per week
