Job Title: Repair Engineer
Location: Chula Vista, CA
We are in need of an experienced Repair Engineer to provide support for aerospace aftermarket operations in Chula Vista, CA. The main responsibility of this position is to develop and approve structural repairs and allowable damage limits for commercial aircraft nacelle components.
The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in aerospace structures, repair development, maintenance documentation, and commercial aircraft MRO requirements. This role requires an engineer who can work independently, make sound engineering decisions, assist customers with complex technical issues, and offer technical guidance to other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions and repair instructions for various aerospace nacelle components and programs.
- Design and support repair development for metallic and composite aircraft structures.
- Create and approve repair concepts and allowable damage limits for Structural Repair Manual (SRM) applications.
- Collaborate closely with production engineering to assess design changes impact on structural maintainability, repairability, and maintenance documentation.
- Support repair development for SRM, CMM, and AMM documentation.
- Work with engine manufacturers, airframers, and other customers to resolve complex technical issues.
- Create engineering repair packages for SRM/CMM repair development and submission to the Type Certificate Holder.
- Act as a technical point of contact for internal and external customers.
- Communicate technical recommendations and present engineering solutions to customers and management.
- Handle multiple repair assignments in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Support engineering standardization and process improvements aimed at enhancing repair processing times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Approximately 5 years of relevant aerospace engineering experience.
- Experience with aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) and commercial aviation regulatory requirements.
- Experience in developing repairs for aircraft metallic and/or composite structures.
- Experience with repair development involving nacelle and exhaust structures.
- Working knowledge of aerospace maintenance manuals, including SRM, ASR, CMM, and AMM.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience in customer-facing or customer-support engineering roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- CATIA V5 experience.
- FiberSim experience.
- Thorough understanding of aerospace nacelle systems.
- Knowledge of specialty manufacturing processes for aerospace components.
- Experience with automation tools like Excel VBA and Visual Basic.
