Field Service Technician Position at Key Manufacturing Client

We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician for a manufacturing client in New Haven, CT. This is a direct-hire opportunity for an individual who is skilled in troubleshooting complex equipment, working closely with customers, and traveling to various customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical manufacturing equipment at customer sites
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics for high-voltage and low-voltage systems
  • Use a multimeter to diagnose electrical issues
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems
  • Diagnose problems with servo drives, motors, and motion-control systems
  • Read and interpret pneumatic schematics
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble electromechanical assemblies
  • Learn and utilize CNC lathe controls and programming
  • Provide operator training and installation guidance
  • Maintain detailed digital records of service calls and repairs
  • Represent the company professionally during customer visits
  • Travel overnight 50%–75% of the time

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2–5 years of field service or equipment maintenance experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in high- and low-voltage electrical systems
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and motion-control systems
  • Ability to read pneumatic schematics
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining digital records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer-service and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel overnight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machinery and automated manufacturing systems
  • Familiarity with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens, or similar CNC controls
  • Experience in equipment installation and customer training in a manufacturing setting
