Quality Assurance Technician

Sanborn, NY

Inspect processes and products using an array of measuring instruments and techniques to ensure compliance. Additionally, assist in managing the company's quality management system to meet ISO 9001 standards.

Essential Duties of the Position

Quality Control

  • Conduct manual (hand tools) or CMM inspections and verification activities for products
  • Perform random inspections for operators
  • Understand and adhere to customer and Voss inspection and testing requirements, methods, statistical analysis, and tools for buyoff acceptance
  • Coordinate and execute inspection and buyoff activities as a resource
  • Advise, train, and coordinate operators on inspection techniques and requirements
  • Calibrate and maintain company-owned measurement and test equipment
  • Assist with calibration of employee-owned tools as per guidelines

Quality Assurance

  • Assist in maintaining the Voss quality system to meet ISO accreditation requirements
  • Develop, execute, and analyze quality reporting measures for management
  • Participate and conduct internal quality audits
  • Design and implement methods for process control, improvement, testing, and inspection

Documentation and Quality Plans

  • Act as a quality resource for department supervisors in problem identification, resolution, loss reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements and standards for product development and manufacturing
  • Promote and execute quality plans, test methodology, documents, and inspection reports
  • Maintain, verify, and supply certifications in accordance with job requirements

Corrective Actions

  • Administer the corrective action system
  • Respond to customer requests for corrective actions
  • Request supplier corrective actions as needed
  • Promote continuous improvement

Other

  • Follow work order instructions, read blueprints, and understand geometric tolerances
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and participate in training as assigned
  • Maintain routine maintenance and cleanliness in the work area
  • Proper and safe use of material handling equipment
  • Adhere to all company safety rules

Experience

Minimum of two years of experience in quality or a related area.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required

  • Proficient in using manufacturing measurement and test equipment
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, tolerancing, and geometric tolerancing
  • Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, documentation, and manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of statistics and statistical process control
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience with application/auditing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication abilities
