Human Resources Manager – Manufacturing

Location: Columbus, GA | 100% Onsite

We are in search of a seasoned Human Resources Manager to act as the primary HR leader for a sizable, unionized manufacturing facility in Columbus, Georgia. This pivotal role will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager and site leadership team to drive labor relations, workforce strategy, employee engagement, leadership development, and overall organizational effectiveness.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who thrives on being integrated with day-to-day operations and desires to make a substantial impact on plant culture and performance. The ideal candidate will possess robust union/labor relations expertise, solid business acumen, and the ability to foster constructive relationships with employees, union representatives, and plant executives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic HR partner to Plant Manager and site leadership team.
  • Lead HR initiatives including labor/employee relations, talent acquisition, talent management, organizational development, and performance management.
  • Foster positive relationships with union leadership and facilitate labor-management cooperation.
  • Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements and provide guidance on grievances, investigations, arbitration, and labor-related matters.
  • Collaborate with union and plant management to address employee/workplace concerns proactively.
  • Support labor negotiations and devise long-term labor relations strategies.
  • Oversee hourly hiring, staffing, and headcount management.
  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, talent reviews, and readiness for critical roles.
  • Develop frontline supervisors and other leaders through training, coaching, and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • 3+ years of unionized workforce support.
  • Manufacturing HR experience essential.
  • Strong expertise in collective bargaining agreements, grievances, and labor/employee relations.
  • Proven ability to foster productive union-management relationships.
  • Experience in leadership development, succession planning, and organizational capability enhancement.
