Compensation:

Starting at $32.00+/hr (based on experience)

Position Summary:

The Honing Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating manual honing equipment to manufacture precision components that meet exact dimensional tolerances and superior surface finish requirements. This role requires strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to inspect parts using precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual honing machines
• Produce components to extremely tight tolerances (up to 0.0001–0.0002")
• Hone aluminum, steel, titanium, plastics, and specialty alloys
• Select proper honing stones, abrasives, tooling, and fixtures
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
• Verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish
• Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet production goals
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications:

Required:

• 1+ years of honing or precision machining experience
• Experience working with extremely tight tolerances
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of machining practices, shop mathematics, and metal properties
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Excellent attention to detail and quality

Preferred:

• Experience with SUNNEN honing equipment
• Lapping experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Continuous improvement mindset
