Our client is currently seeking an individual for the position of Building Automation Controls Engineer. As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for working independently, under the guidance of the Operations and Engineering Manager, to engineer new Direct Digital Control (DDC) projects and provide support for various building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC systems. This role involves a range of tasks, from system programming to troubleshooting and commissioning, all while ensuring high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
System Programming & Engineering:
- Engineer new Direct Digital Control (DDC) projects
- Program, monitor, and install building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC and integrated systems
- Update and maintain the graphical web interface for system monitoring and diagnostics
Troubleshooting & Commissioning:
- Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC and computer/controller systems
- Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and integration
Documentation & Compliance:
- Compile and maintain as-built drawings, closeout documentation, and system records
- Ensure systems comply with design specifications and regulatory standards
Collaborative Work:
- Work independently and as part of a project team to meet project deadlines
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure customer satisfaction and high standards of quality
Position Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Strong troubleshooting skills to differentiate between HVAC and computer/controller issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and customer-focused
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and independently meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Required Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in programming, with five (5) years preferred. Experience with building automation systems, including HVAC, is essential.
Educational Requirements:
A 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology is a plus.
Certifications & Skills:
- Tridium AX certification highly preferred
- Experience with temperature control systems (Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Schneider, Siemens) is a plus
- Familiarity with BACnet, DDC, Niagara AX, ALC, Siemens, or Metasys is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Visio, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with AutoCAD and PDF software is a plus
