Automation/Controls Technician/Installer

Our client is seeking an experienced Automation/Controls Technician/Installer to support Building Automation System (BAS) installations. This role will involve mounting control components, installing low voltage wiring, performing terminations, conducting system start-ups, and troubleshooting systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with building automation systems, possess a CT E2 or L6 License, and demonstrate the ability to deliver high-quality installations and service.

Key Responsibilities:

BAS Installation:

  • Mount and install control components, including sensors, thermostats, and controllers, as part of Building Automation System (BAS) installations.
  • Install conduit, low voltage wiring, and perform terminations in accordance with project specifications.

System Start-Up and Checkout:

  • Conduct system start-ups, verifying proper functioning and calibration of all components.
  • Perform system testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Diagnose and repair issues with BAS components, wiring, and controls.
  • Respond promptly to service calls for troubleshooting and system repairs.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure timely and accurate installations.
  • Communicate with clients and provide status updates on project progress.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure installations comply with local codes and regulations, particularly electrical codes.
  • Follow all safety protocols during installations, testing, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

Licensing and Certification:

  • Must hold a valid CT E2 or L6 License.
  • Additional certifications in building automation or electrical systems are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the installation and maintenance of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience with low voltage wiring, system start-up, and troubleshooting is essential.

Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and system specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system malfunctions effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
