An established company with a significant share of the U.S. market in manufacturing is located in southwest suburban Atlanta. They have an exciting opportunity for an Automation/Robotics Technician in their plant environment due to growth with robotic installations for the assembly process.

Job Summary

The Automation/Robotics Technician will be responsible for participating in cell design, end of arm tooling and fixture design, as well as the installation of automated equipment. This role involves a mix of mechanical, electrical, and facilities support. The technician will be responsible for configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting robots and other automated systems used in production. Their primary goal is to increase efficiency and prolong the lifespan of robotic and automated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in constructing robotic equipment in collaboration with engineers
  • Test robotic systems to ensure proper functionality
  • Install and program robotic equipment in a manufacturing facility
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with robotic equipment
  • Repair robots or peripheral equipment such as circuit boards, sensors, controllers, and more
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems using a computer
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and routine upgrades and inspections
  • Disassemble and reassemble robots to replace defective parts
  • Train others on the installation, use, and servicing of robots

Qualifications and Experience

  • Level I: High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Level II: High school diploma or equivalent, with 2-4 years of related experience and/or training
  • Level III: Technical training certificates or associate degree, with 6-8 years of related experience and/or training

Physical Requirements

The candidate should be able to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls and communicate effectively. They should also be able to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, or crawling. Additionally, they should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

The work environment may involve loud noise and exposure to extreme heat. There may also be situations where the employee works at heights, in outdoor conditions, or is exposed to fumes, chemicals, electrical shock, or vibrations.
