Ammonia Refrigeration Technician - Dual Roles
Well established and renowned company located in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking Ammonia Refrigeration Technicians for immediate direct hire on the night shift. The company operates in a plant environment and offers an energized and impactful culture.
Shift:
Night Shift - 6:15 PM to 6:45 AM
4 days on, 4 days off
Compensation:
Starting pay is $34/hour with additional shift differentials for nights: 2nd shift ($0.25/hour) and 3rd shift ($0.30/hour). Overtime pay of time and a half for any hours worked over 8 hours in a day. The company provides major benefits and relocation assistance, if needed. Employees working a 12-hour shift will be paid $40.25 per hour including shift differential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with Safety, PSM, environmental, SQF, GMP policies, procedures, and regulations
- Demonstrate sound knowledge, judgment, and maintain high standards for the quality of work
- Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, test, adjust, and maintain the facility's utilities systems
- Complete progressive Boiler and Ammonia Operator Training
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) in all aspects of daily work
- Troubleshoot equipment and processes, ensuring steady-state operations and continuity across multiple shifts
- Support weekly work order schedules as arranged by Facilities Maintenance Planner
- Utilize CMMS (SAP PM) to accurately document and track work order hours and execution
- Support equipment maintenance and repairs with vendors and outside contractors in coordination with Planner and Management
- Actively participate or lead daily shift change DDS and shutdown meetings
- Support Break-Down-Analysis (BDA) and 5S for assigned Facilities areas
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities through the company performance system
- Ability to work overtime and/or flex work hours, including weekends and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience as a stationary engineer, industrial maintenance, commercial HVAC, or equivalent military experience
- Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude with demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical & mechanical equipment and systems
- Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Boiler Tech 1 training and successfully complete it within 6 months
- Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia Operator 1 training and obtain certification within 6 months
- Must attend GCAP (or equivalent approved by Management) Ammonia Operator 2 training and obtain certification within 12 months
- Must be willing to work in a union environment
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Highly mobile, extensive walking on flat surfaces and up/down stairs with quick response to emergency situations
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work on ladders, boom lifts/forklift/scissor lift
- Must be able to work in a noisy environment with varied temperatures
- Must be able to pass respirator testing annually for PSM
