HVAC Design Engineer
HVAC Engineer
We are looking for an HVAC Design Engineer to create and develop heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for both commercial and residential construction projects in Rocky Hill, CT.
The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for conducting load calculations, determining ventilation requirements, drafting system layouts, creating construction drawings, estimating project costs, and coordinating designs with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have two to four years of experience in HVAC design and must be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing HVAC systems and controls based on project specifications, building needs, and customer requirements.
- Performing heating and cooling load calculations to determine appropriate capacities and equipment needs.
- Calculating ventilation and airflow requirements according to codes and project specifications.
- Selecting and sizing HVAC equipment such as air-handling units, rooftop units, boilers, chillers, pumps, fans, etc.
- Designing ductwork, piping, ventilation, and mechanical-system layouts.
- Preparing and revising HVAC plans, schematics, details, schedules, and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Two to four years of HVAC design experience.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience with HVAC drawings, layouts, schematics, and construction documents.
- Knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation requirements, ductwork design, and piping-system design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, or multifamily properties.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and mechanical and energy codes.
- Experience with HVAC load-calculation or energy-modeling software.
- Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward professional engineering licensure.
