Sustaining Engineer - HVAC

The Sustaining Engineer is responsible for supporting existing HVAC products, ensuring their long-term performance, quality, and manufacturability. This role provides daily engineering support to factory operations, drives cost-reduction initiatives, manages engineering changes, and collaborates with suppliers, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams. The engineer also mentors junior engineers or interns and manages sustaining projects independently.

Day to Day Task

  • Provide daily engineering support to production
  • Develop and validate design modifications
  • Participate in cost-reduction initiatives
  • Coordinate with supply chain for alternate suppliers
  • Use structured problem-solving tools to resolve issues

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This role involves office-based work with occasional visits to factory operations and suppliers. Moderate lifting may be required during prototype handling or testing.

Required Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years of experience in sustaining engineering or HVAC product engineering. Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and industry standards
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and PLM systems
  • Experience with ECNs, BOM management, and supplier qualification

Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00
