CNC Machinist Lathe
Job Opening: CNC Lathe Machinist
Location: New Britain, CT
Our client in the manufacturing industry is in need of a skilled CNC Lathe Operator with at least five years of experience in machine setup. The ideal candidate must be able to independently set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, specifically Nakamura machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, including Nakamura machines.
- Work independently from blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Select, change, and set all required tooling.
- Determine and adjust appropriate feeds and speeds.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
- Ensure the quality of all products produced on assigned machines.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues.
- Train and monitor operators within the department.
- Perform required 5S activities and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Conduct line walks in the lathe area as directed by the supervisor.
- Follow all company safety policies and promptly report unsafe conditions or practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of CNC machine setup experience.
- Demonstrated CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
- Experience with Nakamura equipment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of machining feeds and speeds.
- Proficiency with inspection tools, measuring instruments, and gauges.
- Ability to work independently while supporting department operators.
- Understanding of Lean Enterprise principles and tools.
