Welding Technician – ARC, MIG, and TIG welding
Welding Specialist - Peachtree City, GA
A well-established company with a dominant market share in their industry is seeking a skilled Welding Technician for their day shift role in Peachtree City, GA. The Welding Technician will be responsible for maintaining welding equipment and site property, performing weld repairs in a safe and efficient manner. This position offers an attractive hourly rate and a 401K plan with matching. The working hours are from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime paid at time and a half.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Level I
- Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in all positions with proper rod selection for the base material.
- Mig Welding: Perform Mig welding in all positions with proper wire and gas selection for the base material.
- Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in all positions with proper rod and gas selection for the base material.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Implement cutting principles for materials.
- Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication according to supplied prints and instructions.
- Safe Work Practices: Follow safe work practices around equipment.
- Level II
- Arc Welding: Independently select rods for optimal strength and performance of welds.
- Mig Welding: Independently select wire, gases, and pressures for optimal strength and performance of welds.
- Tig Welding: Independently select rod, gases, and pressures for optimal strength and performance of welds.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch with minimal instruction to minimize impact on work piece.
- Fabrication: Perform fabrication with minimal instruction and supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others.
- Level III
- Arc Welding: Hold certification in arc welding for all positions.
- Mig Welding: Hold certification in Mig welding for all positions.
- Tig Welding: Hold certification in Tig welding for all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch without instruction to minimize impact on work piece.
- Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication without instruction and create own prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others.
Education/Experience
Level I: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II: High school diploma and 2-4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level III: Technical training certificates or associate's degree and 6-8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills Required
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Mathematical skills including calculations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, talk or hear, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 80 lbs.
Working Conditions
The work environment is usually loud and may involve exposure to extreme heat, high places, outside weather conditions, fumes, chemicals, electrical shock, and vibrations.
