Welding / Maint Technician – ARC, MIG, and TIG welding – with certification

Certified Welding Technician - Peachtree City, GA

A reputable and well-established company with a dominant market share in its industry is currently seeking a Welding / Maintenance Technician for the day shift. As a Welding Technician, your main responsibility will be to maintain welding equipment and site property and perform efficient and safe weld repairs to equipment and facilities. This position is located in Peachtree City, GA, southwest of suburban Atlanta. We offer an attractive hourly rate with additional incentives, including an extra $1.00 per hour for perfect attendance and a 401K plan with matching.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Level I:
    • Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in various positions, select appropriate rods for different base materials, and apply arc welding principles.
    • Mig Welding: Perform Mig welding in various positions, select suitable wire and gases for different base materials, and apply Mig welding principles.
    • Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in various positions, choose appropriate rod and gases for various base materials, and apply Tig welding principles.
    • Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Use cutting materials effectively.
    • Fabrication: Conduct basic fabrication based on instructions and supplied prints.
    • Safe Work Practices: Follow safety protocols around equipment.
  • Level II (Includes all Level I responsibilities)
    • Arc Welding: Independently select rods to optimize weld strength and performance.
    • Mig Welding: Independently select wires, gases, and pressures to optimize weld strength and performance.
    • Tig Welding: Independently select rods, gases, and pressures to optimize weld strength and performance.
    • Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch effectively with minimal instruction to minimize impact on workpiece.
    • Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication with minimal instruction and supply own prints (may include basic machining).
    • Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the area.
  • Level III (Includes all Level I & II responsibilities)
    • Arc Welding: Hold certified Arc welding in all positions.
    • Mig Welding: Hold certified Mig welding in all positions.
    • Tig Welding: Hold certified Tig welding in all positions.
    • Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch effectively without instruction to minimize impact on workpiece.
    • Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication without instruction and create own prints (may include some basic machining).
    • Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to optimize safety for facilities and others in the area.

Education/Experience:

  • Level I: High school diploma or equivalent, with one to two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Level II: High school diploma or equivalent, with two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Level III: Technical training certificates or associate's degree, with six to eight years of related experience and/or training.

Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence, and perform basic mathematical calculations is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must possess the ability to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and have good communication skills.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping may be required, as well as the ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • The work environment may include loud noise and exposure to extreme heat.
  • Occasional work in high places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration may occur.
