Welding / Maint Technician – ARC, MIG, and TIG welding – with certification
Certified Welding Technician - Atlanta, GA
A well-established company with a dominant market share in their industry and a positive work culture is seeking a Welding / Maintenance Technician for a day shift position. The Welding Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of welding equipment and site property, as well as performing safe and efficient weld repairs to equipment and facilities. The job location is in southwest suburban Atlanta, GA and offers an attractive hourly rate. The day shift hours are from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime paid at time and a half. The role also provides weekly pay and an additional $1.00 per hour for perfect attendance. Additionally, there is an appealing 401K plan with matching.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Level I
- Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in all positions using appropriate rods for the base material and following the principles of arc welding.
- Mig Welding: Perform Mig welding in all positions using proper wire, gases, and flux core, and applying the principles of Mig welding.
- Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in all positions using appropriate rods and gases, and following the principles of Tig welding.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Execute cutting materials using the principles of cutting.
- Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication with instruction and supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Maintain safe work practices around equipment.
- Level II (Includes Level I responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Independently select rods to optimize strength and performance of welds.
- Mig Welding: Independently select wire, gases, and pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds.
- Tig Welding: Independently select rod, gases, and pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch optimally with some instruction to minimize impact on work piece.
- Fabrication: Perform fabrication with minimal instruction and supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to maximize safety for facilities and others in the work area.
- Level III (Includes Level I & II responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Possess certified Arc welding skills in all positions.
- Mig Welding: Possess certified Mig welding skills in all positions.
- Tig Welding: Possess certified Tig welding skills in all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma cutting: Set up torch optimally without instruction to minimize impact on work piece.
- Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication without instruction and create own prints (may include basic machining).
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to maximize safety for facilities and others in the work area.
Education/Experience:
- Level I - High school diploma or GED, or 1-2 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II - High school diploma or GED, 2-4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level III - Technical training certificates or associate's degree, 6-8 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate should possess a state-certified welding certification issued by a certified welding inspector.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as write routine reports and correspondence.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and communicate verbally.
- The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee occasionally needs to reach with hands/arms and lift up to 80 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- The work environment is usually loud and occasionally exposes the employee to extreme heat, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations.
