Welding / Maint Technician – ARC and MIG – with certification
Certified ARC and MIG Welding/Maintenance Technician - Lagrange, GA
A well-established company with a dominant presence in its industry is offering a great opportunity for a Welding/Maintenance Technician on the day shift. This role involves maintaining welding equipment and site property, as well as performing weld repairs to equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner. The job location is in Lagrange, GA, southwest of suburban Atlanta. An attractive hourly rate is offered, and the work schedule is from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime is paid at time and a half. Employees are paid weekly and can earn an additional $1.00 per hour for perfect attendance. The company also provides an appealing 401K plan with matching contributions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Level I
- Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in all positions, including selecting the proper rod for the base material and applying the principles of arc welding.
- MIG Welding: Perform MIG welding in all positions, including selecting the proper wire and gases for the base material. Have knowledge of both flux core and gas welding and apply the principles of MIG welding.
- TIG Welding: Perform TIG welding in all positions, including selecting the proper rod and gases for the base material and applying the principles of TIG welding.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw Cutting: Apply the principles of cutting materials in a safe and effective manner.
- Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication tasks using supplied prints and instructions.
- Safe Work Practices: Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety protocols around equipment.
- Level II (Includes Level I responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Select rods without instruction to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- MIG Welding: Select wire, gases, and pressures without instruction to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- TIG Welding: Select rod, gases, and pressures without instruction to optimize the strength and performance of welds.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma Cutting: Set up the torch optimally, with some instruction, to minimize impact on the workpiece.
- Fabrication: Perform fabrication tasks with minimal instruction using supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate the work environment to ensure optimal safety for facilities and other workers in the area.
- Level III (Includes Level I & II responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Possess certified arc welding skills in all positions.
- MIG Welding: Possess certified MIG welding skills in all positions.
- TIG Welding: Possess certified TIG welding skills in all positions.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma Cutting: Set up the torch optimally, without instruction, to minimize impact on the workpiece.
- Fabrication: Perform advanced fabrication tasks without instruction, including the ability to create own prints and possibly do basic machining.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate the work environment to ensure optimal safety for facilities and other workers in the area.
Education/Experience:
Candidates should possess a state certified welding certification issued by a certified welding inspector.
- Level I: High school diploma or GED, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II: High school diploma or GED, two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level III: Technical training certificates or associate's degree, six to eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and problem-solving.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and communicate verbally. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and crawl. Occasionally, the employee needs to reach with hands/arms and lift up to 80 lbs.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is usually loud, and employees are frequently exposed to high temperatures, work at heights, and outdoor weather conditions. They may also encounter fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
