CNC Machinist in Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and operate multi-axis CNC Swissturn lathes and milling machining centers
  • Perform trial runs to ensure accurate machine settings or programmed control data
  • Follow written processes and operate various CNC machines and special processes
  • Receive work orders and verify components for correctness
  • Load materials onto bar feeder
  • Perform and document line clearance
  • Verify the correct machine program
  • Deburr parts as required
  • Measure parts using precision measuring instruments
  • Interact with personnel and shift changeovers in a manufacturing environment
  • Maintain quality and production output
  • Sort and rework parts as needed
  • Assist with other operations as required
  • Enter data into MRP system
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management promptly
  • Perform first cut-off and return axis to home position
  • Adjust machine settings, replace tools, and perform tool offsets
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Adjust bar feeder and verify material against work order
  • Perform first article inspection
  • Adjust machine tool offsets
  • Download programs and run machine without material
  • Monitor machine operation and respond to malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining
  • Streamline processes to increase productivity and quality
  • Install and adjust collects with proper pressure
  • Clean and assemble collect assemblies
  • Verify tools and set up in pre-setter or machine
  • Notify programmers of issues and improvements
  • Support machine operators as assigned
  • Consistently and accurately set up production and pilot production jobs
  • Identify root cause of machine-related problems and notify leadership
  • Motivate others to exceed goals
  • Identify programming or process data sheet issues and notify engineering
  • Assist crew coordinators and mentor lower-level operators

Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Two years of direct CNC machine experience or equivalent vocational education
