An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior FSQA Manager to take charge of a large poultry processing plant located in Lewiston, NC. In this role, you will provide leadership to the local team in implementing Quality/Food Safety Policy and Quality Systems. The Senior FSQA Manager will play a crucial role in identifying and investigating all opportunities related to Quality/Food Safety across products, projects, and processes, and will implement strategies for measurable improvements through Quality Improvement and Continuous Improvement techniques.


  • Evaluate and modify, if necessary, Food Safety and Quality Management systems (FSQMS) including HACCP, SSOP, FSIS regulations, and programs.
  • Provide executive reporting on Food Safety and regulatory compliance, as well as concerns regarding microbial management, with actionable recommendations. Ensure the execution of the company's microbial intervention processes in assigned facilities.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert on methodologies and recommend improvements where needed.
  • Demonstrate strong transformational skills such as problem-solving, inspiring, communicating across multiple organizations, and executing. This includes providing evidence-based leadership and utilizing these skills with team members, management, and community leaders.
  • Evaluate the current staffing to identify strengths and needs.
  • Develop and improve strong collaborative working relationships with sanitation and operations staff.
  • Establish and enhance strong working relationships with USDA.
  • Lead and instruct the FSQA team to interface and maintain the use of digital data collection systems and other formats, such as SafetyChain, Trace Gains, Power Bi, and similar systems.


  • Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least 10 years of experience in FSQA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the poultry industry is a MUST.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and all applicable regulations.
  • 10 years of progressive management or leadership experience.
  • 6 years of experience with direct customer interface and support related to Quality and Food Safety.
  • Experience in managing requirements around verification programs such as NAE, NGMO, Gluten Free, BRC, SQF, HACCP, etc.
  • Extensive background in microbiology and food science.
  • Engagement experience with USDA regulations.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining company records related to process workflows and regulatory organizations.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in applying intervention systems to reduce microbial load and risk in poultry processing.
  • Ability to effectively articulate and present the company's Food Safety and Quality strategy to senior management, regulatory bodies, customers, and copackers.
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a rapidly growing organization, including addressing regulatory issues.
  • Ability to formulate solutions from a broad perspective.
