Job Description:

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering tasks. Your main focus will be maintaining and continuously improving the performance of multiple chemical production units and related systems. In addition to a strong technical knowledge of electric power systems, field instrumentation, and control systems, it is beneficial to have a basic understanding of chemical and physical processes. Your objective will be to provide engineering and technical services that ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and maximize the efficiency of these units.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with fellow EI&C Engineering counterparts to ensure safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance
  • Supporting the availability of production units to meet capacity and quality requirements
  • Providing consultation and support for capital projects
  • Participating in commissioning of new and modified production units
  • Assisting in planning and execution of system or unit turnarounds
  • Supporting maintenance team in planning and execution of ITPM and MRO activities
  • Maintaining asset data in enterprise asset management and plant engineering system(s)
  • Becoming an expert in the process areas of responsibility and assigned subject matters
  • Developing specifications and standards
  • Supervising third-party providers for engineering and maintenance services
  • Representing the company's interests toward suppliers and contractors
  • Planning and executing small-sized investment projects
  • Conducting or coordinating de-bottlenecking and troubleshooting activities
  • Supporting process and technology transfer and exchange between production sites
  • Driving and supporting continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, and cost
  • Collaborating with various departments and teams to achieve optimal results and solutions
  • Performing all tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation, Automation, or Controls Engineering) or Chemical Engineering degree with strong controls and 480V experience, or equivalent/related education
  • 4+ years of experience in chemical and/or oil/gas industries (or similar industrial experience)
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a preferred plus, but not required
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong multitasking competency
  • Objective judgment and fact-based decision-making approach
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary and intercultural teams
  • Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • Ability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure
  • Team player attitude
  • Basic understanding of chemical and physical processes
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, instrumentation, and controls (EI&C)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operation/maintenance of 480V equipment, such as motors and motor control centers (MCCs)
