Senior Manufacturing Controls Engineer

Location: Athens, GA

A global and well-established company has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Controls Engineer at their large manufacturing complex near the Atlanta metropolitan area. This position offers excellent company benefits and a potential bonus of 1-2%.

Essential Functions:

  • Finds and resolves existing product and manufacturing process issues through problem identification and implementation of improvements.
  • Develops and maintains the quality system documentation for new and existing programs, including PFMEA, control plan, process flow, work instructions, and inspection documents.
  • Performs research, development, evaluation, installation, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing systems, processes, and equipment to meet requirements.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Provides input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
  • Conducts cost-benefit analyses for product and/or manufacturing process cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of building floor space, equipment, and tooling.
  • Performs routine activities accurately and promptly following instructions and procedures.
  • Trains Production and Maintenance Associates to enhance technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills on the production shop floor.
  • Performs other work as assigned by Management.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, preferably Keyence, Omron, and/or Mitsubishi.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with high-volume CNC Machining, automated assembly, and/or plastic injection molding processes.
  • Experience with programming FANUC robots and CNC controls is desired.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to implement effective countermeasures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals.
  • Quick learner with a basic understanding of the company, products, manufacturing processes, and rules.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This position requires sitting, standing, and moving around the facility. Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs may be required.
