Job Summary of the Senior Quality Manager:

The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at the manufacturing plant in Norfolk, NE. This includes implementing a preventive quality system, ensuring compliance with specifications, providing operator training and development, conducting quality testing of ingredients and finished products, addressing complaints, and communicating with sales and plant personnel about quality program trends, issues, and opportunities.

Qualifications of the Senior Quality Manager:

  • Implement and monitor the Quality Assurance Program at the facility based on established policies and procedures.
  • Define quality assurance specifications for finished products, in-process testing, and ingredients, and ensure adherence to these specifications.
  • Establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials in collaboration with Purchasing.
  • Recruit, direct, coach, lead, and supervise all QA personnel.
  • Create and manage the laboratory budget, identifying cost reduction opportunities and margin improvement.
  • Investigate and provide analytical results on customer complaints promptly.
  • Assist operations in establishing procedures and overseeing product and process development and test runs, reporting the results.
  • Manage inventory of off-spec materials and schedule product reworking as needed.
  • Conduct internal, vendor, and contract manufacturing audits as necessary.
  • Maintain and enhance all existing quality assurance lab data system reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, federal, and international safety and regulatory policies and practices.
  • Coordinate pest control services.

Responsibilities of the Senior Quality Manager:

  • At least 7 years of experience in manufacturing QA management.
  • Prior dairy industry experience is mandatory, along with familiarity with PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Life Science or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and computer software applications.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
