Lead Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join their team in Albany. This role is ideal for candidates with over a decade of experience in designing building systems, specifically HVAC and plumbing systems. As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will take charge of projects, mentor team members, and collaborate closely with architects and other building systems professionals.

Core Responsibilities

Design Development:

• Create detailed designs for HVAC and plumbing systems in various projects, such as K-12 schools, colleges/universities, and corporate offices.
• Work collaboratively with architects and engineers to develop integrated building system designs.

Documentation and Administration:

• Prepare comprehensive construction documents and specifications.
• Provide support during the construction phase, including reviewing submittals and responding to requests for information (RFIs).

Inspections and Reporting:

• Conduct thorough mechanical building inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Create detailed technical reports and documentation.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in designing mechanical systems for buildings (HVAC) in the architecture/engineering (A/E) and construction industries.
• Prior experience working in or with an A/E office is required.

Education:

• Bachelor of Engineering in Architectural Engineering (BAE) or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Technical Skills:

• Highly proficient in Revit and other design/presentation software.
• Knowledge of high-performance building design is a plus.

Licensure:

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferred.

Communication:

• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
