Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

This manufacturing facility, which is not unionized and specializes in hydraulic components, is in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineer who can oversee the entire design process. This position is newly created within the engineering department and offers potential for advancement within the first year. The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Product Design and Development:
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as R&D, production, and quality assurance, to conceptualize and design mechanical components and systems.
    • Utilizing CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
    • Creating prototypes and models of mechanical designs to test and assess their feasibility.
    • Planning and conducting various tests, such as stress analysis, thermal analysis, and tolerance analysis, to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs.
    • Interpreting test results and implementing necessary design modifications for continuous improvement.
    • Generating comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications, to support the manufacturing process.
    • Working closely with the manufacturing team to provide technical guidance during the production process and address any design-related issues.
    • Collaborating with suppliers to select appropriate materials and components, considering cost, availability, and quality.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Providing strong leadership to the engineering team and guiding them in the execution of projects and daily tasks.
    • Assigning tasks to team members based on their strengths and development goals.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of proven experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools for stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with project management, from concept to completion, is a plus.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing and developing engineering teams.
