Quality Engineer
Quality Assurance Engineer - East Hartford, CT
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that products are manufactured in accordance with customer and company quality requirements. This role involves overseeing both in-process and final quality checks for assigned programs or areas, with a strong emphasis on maintaining quality standards throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing design drawings, changes, operation sheets, process procedures, test protocols, procurement documents, quality manuals, and inspection analyses to ensure compliance with customer and internal quality requirements.
- Assisting with contract reviews to ensure that all quality expectations are clearly defined and met.
- Interpreting and applying relevant standards, such as AS9100C, ISO9001:2008, ASQR-01, and various customer, material, or process specifications to maintain high-quality outputs.
- Performing internal quality audits, with expertise in AS9100 internal audits being desirable. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal procedures.
- Providing quality assurance support to the Engineering team during New Product Introduction (NPI) and nonconformance analysis.
- Collaborating with the Customer Service Department to address customer issues and resolve them effectively. Responding to customer Corrective Action Request (CAR) submissions with appropriate process improvements and engaging directly with customers to resolve quality-related issues.
- Supporting the Purchasing team by ensuring that materials meet procurement, special process, and supplier approval requirements. Effectively communicating quality expectations to suppliers to prevent nonconformance and working closely with suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
- Generating and reviewing quality metrics, analyzing trends, and driving continuous process improvements to reduce risk. Leading Root Cause and Corrective Action initiatives using tools such as 8D and 5 Why's.
- Leading and supporting Quality Clinic activities to address and resolve quality issues efficiently.
- Implementing and utilizing new inspection tools and technologies, such as Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and vision systems, to enhance quality control processes.
- Measuring, monitoring, and improving supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date quality records to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5 years of inspection experience, with 2-3 years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent.
- Proficiency in statistical process control and lean principles.
- Strong understanding of contractual quality requirements and company quality systems.
- Ability to interpret GD&T blueprints and perform shop math, including trigonometry.
- Competency in Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Effective interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others in problem-solving scenarios.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, or climb.
