Salary: $120-150K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Project Engineering Manager:

We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team. Successful candidates will be driven by results, self-motivated, analytical, and adaptable to the evolving needs of our business and customers. This position involves hands-on project engineering and management work. You will collaborate with engineers, technicians, and our product development team, engaging in prototype building, testing, and on-site inspections at customer locations to support commissioning activities.

Qualifications of the Project Engineering Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education
  • 3-7 years of experience in managing, leading, and coaching a technical team
  • License as a Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska, with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states
  • Experience in performing technical reviews of specifications for quotations and assessing large contract risks
  • Proficiency in reviewing and validating design risk assessments to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Ability to manage long project timelines and maintain productivity to achieve project milestones
  • Experience in writing design standards
  • Proficiency in using 3D modeling software
  • Understanding and experience with regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinking and a process-oriented mindset to address issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationwide and internationally (expected travel: 10%)

Responsibilities of the Project Engineering Manager:

  • Manage a team of engineers and designers to complete project-specific engineering tasks
  • Allocate resources within the Project Engineering team, assess and mitigate risks, and meet project deadlines for technical deliverables
  • Review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), drawing packages, bills of materials, math data, and other technical documentation
  • Ensure timely completion of ECOs, large projects, and custom-engineered solutions
  • Coordinate with sales and project management teams to allocate resources and manage workloads
  • Lead technical review of specifications for quotations and assess large contract risks/li>
  • Lead the development of custom-engineered solutions for large projects, including design, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, and testing
  • Review design risk assessment, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Establish design standards for transit systems and components to enhance application and product knowledge
  • Support research and development activities by designing appropriate experiments and providing feedback on test results
  • Monitor and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to identify root causes and resolve issues
  • Perform on-site inspections for large projects and provide support for commissioning activities, both domestically and internationally
  • Coordinate engineering activities across all engineering teams with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Managers
  • Supervise a group of Engineers and Designers
  • Provide leadership, expertise, and conduct performance reviews for the team
