Location: Norfolk, Nebraska

Salary: $70-120K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Production Manager:

The Night Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the facility to support overall business objectives. This includes managing all aspects of daily production, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining sanitation, and assisting the EHS manager in implementing safety programs and policies in the Production area. The Production Supervisors will report directly to the Production Manager.

Job Responsibilities of the Production Manager:

  • Developing key manufacturing plans and programs to achieve budgeted unit cost and output objectives.
  • Coordinating activities of all manufacturing functional areas to ensure continuity towards plant goals, communicating priorities as necessary.
  • Creating SOPs for all production processes.
  • Maintaining production capacity synchronized with sales volume requirements, developing contingency plans as necessary.
  • Developing and tracking annual operating budget towards set objectives.
  • Maintaining and improving the quality of the plant assets, both current and fixed.
  • Developing and enhancing technical and manufacturing management skills within the plant.
  • Developing and implementing performance standards for all supervisors, maintaining current job descriptions and improvement plans.
  • Establishing appropriate scheduling and employee work schedules in line with customer orders and plant performance requirements.
  • Working with Purchasing to establish quality specifications for incoming raw materials, monitoring these raw materials to ensure specifications are met.
  • Collaborating with Quality/R&D to develop new products/processes and improve current ones. Establishing procedures and supervising all experimental and test runs, reporting all results.
  • Managing inventory of off-spec materials, including scheduling and reworking products as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the formulation data system, including entering all new product formulations.

Education & Experience of the Production Manager:

  • 5-7 years previous management experience in a food grade operation.
  • Background in dairy, evaporators, and/or drying technologies.
  • Dairy manufacturing or whey experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of plant operation procedures and business system software applications.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to work a night shift schedule of 6pm-6am 2-2-3 Schedule.
  • Bilingual background highly desired.
