Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Salary: $160-210K plus bonus
Job Summary of the Plant Engineering Director: As the leader of Maintenance and Engineering in a high-energy plant, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimizing downtime. Implementing advanced systems such as Preventative and Predictive Maintenance and TPM will propel our plant towards superior performance.
Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Plant Engineering Director:
- Lead capital projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and adhere to safety, food safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage all phases of projects to enhance plant capabilities and minimize operational disruptions through strategic improvements.
- Develop and execute advanced maintenance strategies, including Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and TPM, to maintain peak operational performance.
- Inspire and lead the maintenance team by delegating tasks effectively, enforcing policies, and prioritizing safety.
- Solve operational challenges proactively to minimize recurring issues and maintain smooth production.
- Drive continuous improvements by developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators that measure maintenance function success.
- Lead and develop engineering teams by providing coaching, performance management, and collaboration with HR to create a diverse and empowered workforce.
Education & Experience Requirements of the Plant Engineering Director:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field from a regionally accredited four-year college or university, with at least 10 years of experience in Engineering management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university, with at least 8 years of relevant experience, will be considered qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, including team development and management.
- Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields and experience in resource planning in a large manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal, technical, and presentation skills.
- May be required to work long hours and weekends.
- Preferred knowledge of different pork products and the Meat Industry.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while building strong relationships and fostering a positive work environment.
