Plating Operations Manager - Atlanta, GA

General Summary:

An established company dominating a significant portion of the U.S. market in their manufacturing sector, situated in southwest suburban Atlanta, is currently seeking a talented individual for the role of either Manufacturing Supervisor – Plating or Manufacturing Manager – Plating. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the plating department, with a strong emphasis on safety, production, and quality. The role also involves production planning and scheduling. The plating operations manager will lead a team of 12 individuals and work on a day shift schedule of 10 hours per day from Monday to Thursday, with some additional hours on Friday, though hours may vary. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily scheduling and optimize resource allocation.
  • Implement and maintain controls for the plating chemical process.
  • Identify and take corrective actions to optimize the plating process.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers involved in electroplating, rack stripping, finishing, and inspecting finished products.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of production plating processes, procedures, and control measures.
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective actions for plating processes.
  • Coordinate and manage all continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Ensure proper training, work instructions, control plans, and necessary tools are provided to plating personnel to maintain process parameters according to specifications.
  • Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure lab personnel are trained in the latest analytical techniques and procedures.

Education/Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a chemical-related field is preferred, but not required.
  • At least 2 years of plating-related supervision experience in a manufacturing environment to qualify as a Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • At least 2 years of managerial experience with plating in a manufacturing environment to qualify as a Manufacturing Manager.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and communicate orally. The employee is also regularly required to use their hands and arms. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.
