Foundry Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

An established company with a significant market share in manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a plant site in the southwest Atlanta, GA area. The company has a positive work culture and is investing in new capital equipment. This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and designing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant to maximize efficiency, analyze equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization to achieve manufacturing goals. The role offers major company benefits, bonus potential, and a 401k with a 100% match to 5%. Working hours are typically 8-5, with the possibility of up to 45-50 hours in a week.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design production tooling using 2D & 3D software such as SolidWorks
  • Implement productivity improvements for current production lines
  • Perform root cause analysis of failures and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods
  • Design and implement production processes for new and existing products
  • Participate in cross functional teams to optimize productivity methods
  • Lead exercises in design of experiments, lean manufacturing, and more
  • Create work instructions, spare parts inventories, and more
  • Implement automation, robotic systems, vision systems, and more

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required. Proficiency in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks), Microsoft Office, tooling experience, and project management experience essential. Foundry experience desired along with the ability to work with automation technologies such as robotics and PLCs. Authorization to work in the USA indefinitely without sponsorship.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach with hands/arms, and lift up to 50 lbs.
