Maintenance Technicians – 1st and 2nd shift – valves hydraulics pneumatics

Job Title: Mechanical Systems Technician

Location: Peachtree City, GA

General Summary:

A well-established company with a significant market share in their manufacturing industry, known for its positive working culture, is currently seeking 2 Maintenance Technicians. One technician will be assigned to the day shift, while the other will be assigned to the 2nd shift. These positions require expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and valves. The company is located in southwest suburban Atlanta, GA.

The company offers an appealing hourly rate and provides an additional $1.00 per hour for the 2nd shift position. The day shift schedule is from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime is paid at time and a half. Additional benefits include a competitive 401K plan with matching, relocation assistance, and comprehensive company benefits.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be responsible for the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain, service, and troubleshoot equipment and site property
  • Make adjustments and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to machines and equipment

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidates for these positions must have significant experience with valves, particularly related to hydraulics and pneumatics. This expertise is crucial due to the prevalence of valve-related tasks associated with the die cast production equipment in this work environment.

Level I:

  • Work with pneumatics and principles of compressed air
  • Identify basic components used in hydraulic circuits
  • Understand the schedule rating of pipe and fittings and identify common plumbing fittings
  • Install both 120 and 480 volt circuits and perform other electrical tasks

Level II:

In addition to Level I responsibilities, Level II technicians are expected to:

  • Troubleshoot air logic systems using schematics
  • Explain the transmission of force and energy in a hydraulic circuit
  • Handle plumbing tasks, including layout, installation, interpretation of isometric drawings, and basic plumbing code understanding
  • Perform electrical tasks such as wiring, troubleshooting PLC systems, and installation of electric motors and AC/DC drives
  • Carry out welding duties, including arc welding, MIG welding, plasma, and oxy-fuel cutting

Level III:

Level III technicians are expected to possess all the skills mentioned in Levels I and II, as well as:

  • Install air logic controls based on prints or schematics
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing various components such as check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, pressure control valves, hydraulic oil coolers, and filters
  • Identify and explain differences between various types of hydraulic pumps
  • Utilize knowledge of all fabrication equipment to perform maintenance tasks

Education/Experience:

Please note the following educational and experience requirements for each level:

Level I:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Level II:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Level III:

  • Technical training certificates or Associates Degree
  • Six to eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

The successful candidates must possess strong reading and interpretation skills for safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedure manuals. They should also have basic mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Additionally, problem-solving abilities and data collection skills are necessary for this role.

  • Using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Talking and hearing
  • Standing, walking, reaching with hands or arms, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Reaching with hands/arms and ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
