Job Summary:

The IT Systems Manager is a motivated and experienced individual with a strong focus on networking and security. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and security. This role plays a crucial part in safeguarding our data and systems from internal and external threats while providing essential technical support to our employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Network Administration:

Designing, configuring, and maintaining local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks (WLANs).
Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting network issues to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
Managing network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
Implementing and maintaining network security protocols and best practices.
Planning and executing network upgrades and expansions.

Security Administration:

Implementing and maintaining security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus software.
Conducting regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
Developing and enforcing security policies and procedures.
Responding to security incidents and performing forensic analysis.
Managing user access and permissions.
Staying up to date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities.

Systems Administration:

Installing, configuring, and maintaining servers (Windows/Linux) and other IT infrastructure.
Managing Active Directory and other directory services.
Performing regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
Providing technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.
Documenting all network and system configurations.

Collaboration and Communication:

Working closely with other IT team members, consultants, and internal departments to ensure seamless IT operations.
Effectively communicating with non-technical users to explain technical concepts.
Participating in IT projects and contributing to the development of IT strategies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years of experience in network and security administration.
Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Experience with network security tools and technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration.
Experience with Active Directory and other directory services.
Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, CISSP) are a plus.
