Group Leader

Group Leader - 2nd Shift (2:30pm-10:30pm)

Location: Newton, Iowa

Salary: $75-85K

Job Summary

As a Group Leader, your responsibility will be to oversee and execute all production operations and shop activities. Collaborating with Plant and Production Managers, this role plays a crucial part in driving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to support the company's mission statement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement shop floor activities under the guidance of the Production Manager.
  • Provide direct leadership to "Lead" employees in assigned production areas.
  • Act as a liaison between upper management and hourly employees.
  • Supervise all production and production support operations directly.
  • Develop and enhance team members' performance and capabilities based on company's KPIs.
  • Ensure that team activities, equipment, facilities, and personnel align with plant production goals.
  • Assist Plant Manager and Production Manager in monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality control standards.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment.
  • Provide leadership and training to achieve plant and company objectives.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist in safety awareness programs.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in a related field with 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Manufacturing industry experience, preferably in door and window production.
  • Knowledge of raw materials.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies and activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout the production process.
  • Strong team skills, including coaching and development.
  • Motivational and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of production machines and tools.
  • Flexibility in managing multiple priorities on a daily basis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other position-relevant software applications.
