Field Service Technician
Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Salary: $65-75K plus bonus
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Field Service Technician who is self-directed and has excellent customer service skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to write technical reports and provide product improvement recommendations to the Product Development Group. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a Field Service role with decision-making responsibility
- Electronics or Electrical certificate or degree
- Ability to travel 70% of the time (both domestic and international travel)
- Ability to write trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
- Knowledge of PLC’s highly preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Clean driving record
- No fear of heights
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity (Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platform(s) experience preferred)
- Must currently hold or be able to obtain a valid passport (with proper documentation to travel into and outside of the United States)
Responsibilities:
- Frequent interface with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating the participation of vested parties at the site to inspect/witness the final installation of equipment and their participation in the execution of start-up and commissioning activities
- Coordinate internally to ensure a timely response to customer inquiries
- Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment onsite and remotely
- Repair equipment installed onsite at customer facilities, both warranty and non-warranty claims
- Carry out routine inspections of existing system installations
- Take ownership in implementing pre-commissioning activities and ensuring the quality of work and reports in the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines
- Travel to customer sites to perform final commissioning and demonstrate equipment functions as per specifications for customer acceptance
- Support the project team in clearing and signing off on all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items as per project requirements
- Participate in project and construction meetings as required
- Prepare and provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel
- Provide troubleshooting on-site for technical issues and be available for subsequent technical queries from customers
- Independently coordinate with customers and end-users on site visit details
- Independently coordinate travel arrangements (airfare, lodging, ground transportation, etc.)
- Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering for testing and field service activities
