Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Salary: $65-75K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Field Service Technician:

We are seeking a self-directed Field Service Technician who excels in customer interactions, possesses strong technical writing skills, and can provide valuable input to our Engineering team for product improvements within our Product Development Group. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications of the Field Service Technician:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Field Service role with decision-making responsibility
  • Holding an Electronics or Electrical certificate or degree
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time (both domestic and international travel)
  • Proficiency in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLC's
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
  • Proficiency in working in a Windows environment and using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must not have a fear of heights
  • Experience in the use of PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity required. Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platform(s) experience are highly preferred.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a valid passport (with proper documentation to travel into and outside of the United States)

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician:

  • Frequent interaction with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors
  • Assisting in scheduling and coordinating the participation of involved parties at the site for equipment inspections, start-up, and commissioning
  • Ensuring timely responses to customer inquiries through internal coordination
  • Troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment both onsite and remotely
  • Performing repairs on equipment installed at customer facilities, including warranty and non-warranty claims
  • Conducting routine inspections of existing system installations
  • Taking ownership of pre-commissioning activities in the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines, maintaining the quality of work and report
  • Traveling to customer sites for final commissioning and equipment function demonstrations as per specifications
  • Supporting the project team in clearing and signing off mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items
  • Participating in project and construction meetings as required
  • Providing technical training to end-user operators and/or maintenance personnel
  • Analyzing and eliminating technical faults onsite as a trouble-shooter, being available for subsequent technical queries
  • Independently coordinating with customers and end-users for site visits and travel arrangements
  • Providing direct technical support for testing and field service activities to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering
