Field Service Technician

Job Title: Field Service Technician

Location: Frankfort, Kentucky

Salary: $65-75K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Field Service Technician:

We are seeking a Field Service Technician who is self-directed, comfortable with direct customer interaction, proficient in writing technical reports, and capable of making and assisting the Engineering team with product improvement recommendations for the Product Development Group. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications of the Field Service Technician:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Field Service role with decision-making responsibility
  • Electronics or Electrical certificate or degree
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time (both domestic and international)
  • Proficient in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Highly preferred knowledge of PLCs
  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Clean driving record
  • No fear of heights
  • Required experience in the use of PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity. Experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly preferred.
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a valid passport for travel into and outside of the United States

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician:

  • Frequent interaction with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors
  • Support scheduling and coordination of participation from vested parties for site inspections and equipment installation/start-up
  • Coordinate internally for timely response to customer inquiries
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment both onsite and remotely
  • Repair onsite equipment at customer facilities, including warranty and non-warranty claims
  • Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations
  • Ensure proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities in various disciplines
  • Travel to customer sites to perform final commissioning and demonstrate equipment functions as per specifications
  • Support project team in clearing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items
  • Participate in project and construction meetings as required
  • Provide technical training to end-user operators and maintenance personnel
  • Resolve technical issues on-site and provide ongoing support to customers
  • Coordinate site visits and travel arrangements
  • Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering
